We own two of Stu’s paintings. We enjoy hiking and in 2016 we asked Stu to paint us a mountain scene. His “First Snow at the Headwaters” hangs above the fireplace in our family room where it reminds us daily of places we love to explore in the Colorado high country. More recently we acquired “Na Pali Coast Honeymoon”. This wonderful picture hangs in the entryway of our home. When we pass by we are transported back to the Kalalau Valley on Kauai where we spent our honeymoon years ago camping by the beach glimpsed at the lower left of this painting. Stu has the gift of capturing the most memorable and evocative natural scenes. His color palette is sublime.

We have Stu’s “Canyon Overlook” painting prominently displayed in our home and enjoy it every day.

We commissioned a painting from Stu Howard several years ago. We love living in Colorado, but miss the ocean. Stu brought the ocean to us. “Newport Morning” captures the salt in the air, the steady surf, the changing colors in the coastline clouds. It brings a peace and calm we otherwise only feel when we’re at the sea. Almost daily we notice something new — a patch of light, a breaking wave, a tree branch, a shadow on the distant shoreline.
When we moved two years ago, we wouldn’t let the movers touch this painting. It is a treasured work of art and it was carefully protected and gently placed across the passenger seats in our car as we drove it to our new home. It was also the first piece of art to be displayed when we moved in. Stu is such a gifted artist, and we’re grateful to have this in our home.
